Unedited text of comments by consumers who had purchased a copy of the IRISH WHISKEY feature film at their door. Dear Mr. Stevens, Thank you for the opportunity to watch your film. I found it to be an honest, unpretentious, and courageous portrayal of people at their best and at their worst. It is refreshing and inspiring film with credible characters, human beings with strengths and weaknesses, unlike most of the mainstream American movies being shown today. The acting is extraordinary, and the situations real to life. It is indeed tragic to filmmakers and the audiences alike that films like yours are increasingly difficult to distribute, while millions of dollars are spent advertising and marketing mindless "entertainment", endless remakes and sequels, and "eye candy", that has neither artistic nor cultural value. Graciela, a Santa Monica, California resident bought 2 IW VHS copies. This was the first e-mail received by Jon Stevens at the onset of his sales campaign. At that time plagued with insecurities, this powerful e-mail validated his quest, and encouraged him to contiunue pursuing his door to door mission to see the film released theatrically in the U.S. Jon, Sorry it took me so long to get to you, but I had to write and tell you how much I enjoyed your movie "Irish Whiskey". Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to see it and really appreciate it. My entire family loves it. I have already told friends about it and shown it to a few and extended family. So thanks for everything. Jacquline Shaw, Long Beach, CA Dear Jon Stevens, I finally saw your film IW on DVDand was really touched and moved...now I understand better why you go knocking on doors with it. It is really an important piece of art, full of courage and dedication, full of humanity, full of real love. You dared show that dark and scary side of families, which usually gets put under the carpet. This is the kind of film I love, because it touches real human problems and don't live in an illusionary dream world like most unnecessary Hollywood crap. The people are all very beautiful and real in your film, and the issues important and contemporary as ever. Good luck with getting it on the big screen. Ateet Frankl, Frankldesign, Munich, Germany Hi Jon, I watched the Irish Whiskey film last night. This is an awesome movie, SO REAL, so NATURAL and GREATTTTTTTTTTTTT. I congratulate you on being able to write such a story. Afsaneh, Beverly Hills, CA Jon Stevens has truly delivered a film for our time. IRISH WHISKEY is a movie with inspired content that reveals basic reality and human fiber. This movie would serve as a pilot for an exceptional series that would appeal to all people across all barriers of race, religion, gender and national origin. Jon, we hope for your prosperity and recognition. Your integrity and tenacity is a benchmark for us all. John Shahan, Signal Hill, CA Dear Jon Stevens, I want to thank you number one for your trust in me. You came to my door with a DVD of your movie Irish Whiskey. I didn't have the $20.00 at the time to give to you, plus you had no idea who or what kind of person my husband and I were, so thanks so much for trusting in our good faith to return your payment of such a wonderful movie. I felt this movie was funny, sad, emotional, and very true to life in our country today. I was very moved with the meaning of such feelings with the passion of life. I feel we as people on this earth are so much alike. This movie has a wonderful message. None of us are perfect and everybody needs to accept who we are and make life the best we can. I feel you are blessed with your hard drive in walking the streets door to door selling your movie. I wish you success and many blessings in your next movie. May all your dreams come true. Thank you for coming to my door and your movie was such a pleasure to watch. Delynn Shahan, Signal Hill, CA Jon, I truly enjoyed your movie, one of the best I've seen in a while. Verta, Los Anegels, CA, When you came to my door, here's another guy selling something, a thing I may not want or need. Even after I purchased your film it took me 2 weeks to view it, and I glad I did. It's very well done and so true to all our families. As much as hate to admit it, all our families have some amount of discrimination entwined within it. I really enjoyed your film. Tony Ragucci, Redondo Beach Hello Jon, I bought a copy of your great film Irish Whiskey from you when you were doing the door to door sales in Venice this past week. I first wanted to say that it is a brilliant piece and something both me and my wife enjoyed very much. Daniel Callahan, Venice, CA Hello, Thank you for sending me a copy of "Irish Whsikey." I fiunally had a chance to watch it, and enjoyed it thoroughly. I like films that make you think, instead of mind-numbing drivel that's released in theaters these days. I liked the wide variety of characters in one family and the way they connect with each other, good or bad. And of course I enjoyed the appearance of the Young Dubliners at the end. They are truly a talented band. I haven't met them yet, but I understand they are nice guys. I have seen them three times in the last four months, though; once I discovered them, I wanted more. Thank you again for a wonderful film. I'm sure I'll watch it again and again. Stacey Sanford, Utah Hi Jon, Happy New Year to you and yours! On October 2 you came through our neighborhood in Redondo Beach selling your videos. I bought one and after watching it my hubbie and I decided that your film was one of the best we had seen in 2002! I loaned the video out and it got broke, so I need another. Please let me know if I need to pre-pay as I would be happy to send the $15.00 plus postage. I have got to have another copy! We truly enjoyed your film and hope to see more of your work in the near future. Please reply to this e-mail, thanks! Kepp on making great films! Hi Jon, Thanks for sending another copy of "Irish Whiskey." Can't wait to see it again! Both the above comments from - Cathy Smith, Redondo Beach, CA Jon, Thanks for a terrific film. I really enjoyed Irish Whiskey! I love your characters and found the unique blend of drama and comedy very entertaining. I would go see it again in the theater. Judy, Los Angeles Comments from an audience survey following a Kansas City Film festival screening:
Not everyone will love Irish Whiskey, but there is a powerful enough audience out there to make the movie a U.S. theatrical box office success.
More comments will be added periodically.
