IRISH WHISKEYStory SummaryFilm festival award winning, critically acclaimed comedy-drama about an Irish-American family in crisis...
THE YEAR IS 1990. The place is LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA. Story Log line: Married to a bigot, a woman's life is turned upside down when her brother-in-law shows up at an Irish-American holiday family gathering with his black fiancee, and her sister-in-law shows up with a Spanish Jew. Devout Catholic BRENDA is married to MICHAEL, abusive and bigoted corrupt politician, patriach of an Irish-American family. BRENDA's sister-in-law MOLLY arriving home with her Spanish-Jewish (Sephardi) boyfriend HARRY, and Vietnam veteran brother-in-law SEAN arrives with his African-American fiancee CASSANDRA, triggers fireworks in the family, especially among the women. At first BRENDA echoes her husband's narrow-minded sentiments, but then realizes that CASSANDRA is the woman that she had always aspired to be, forcing BRENDA to confront her choices in life. BRENDA taking charge of her life serves as the catalyst of transformation for MICHAEL, who realizes he too must make a choice: change, or risk losing his family.
