SCRIPT DOCTORING AND/OR SCRIPT GHOST WRITING SERVICES: I can help you improve your screenplay's structure, character development, dialogue by providing either script doctoring (I advise and guide, you write), or script ghost writing services (I write within your prescribed parameters, and you get the screen credit), to make the screenplay marketable in the US. RATES: NEGOTIABLE PROJECT BY PROJCET. SCRIPT CONSULTATION SERVICESWelcome to the Hollywood reality check: Literary agencies and/or literary management, film production companies, movie studios and/or TV network executives will not read your screenpaly. That's a fact. Instead your screenplay will be read by a "reader" whose job is to filter through the mountains of script submissions to find the few good ones worthy of representation. Therefore, it's of crucial importance before a screenplay is submitted for consideration either for representation or sale to production companies, studios, and/or TV & Cable networks, that such material be at its optimum "reader friendly" level. Most new screenwriters rush, and lo-and-behold, submit their screenplays before they are ready for submission, and in this highly competative field, these scripts are quickly passed on, and since the story reports are highly confidential, the often dumbfounded writers never find out why their "masterpiece" was rejected. An active professional, award winning filmmaker (see Jon Stevens bio page in this web site), my services provide you with an insight into how a professional Hollywood "reader" would respond and rate your screenplay - without killing your chance at acquiring that agent, or selling your screenplay, because once your script in "passed" on by a few agencies and/or production companies or studios, word gets around, and it's dead. Obviously you don't have to believe me, but if you do your due diligence you'll soon discover that what I'm telling you is the truth. A "reader" paid a flat fee per script will destroy your chance at getting the agent or selling the screenplay unless it's truly excellent and meets their professional requirements. As a reader for production companies I've covered almost 1,000 scripts. I gave only 8 "excellent" ratings; another 30 "possible consider with a rewrite." I rejected the rest. That's how tough I was as a company reader. Because they read so many terrible scripts, the jaded "readers" have a bad attitude; you need to get on their good side, because if they love your script, they will sing its praises, as I've done. Based on my experience, it takes hours longer to get through a bad script, and because as a "reader" I needed to explain to the producer why the script doesn't work, it takes hours longer to write comments, and if I'm getting paid a flat fee, I'm losing money. Therefore, "readers" are going to rip your script apart to compensate for the suffering they had just been forced to endure covering a "prematurely submitted" script. I'm being polite of course, not to hurt anyone's feelings. You get one shot, so before you submit that screenplay, regardless how great you think it is, you better get that professional "objective" second opinion to make sure that the screenplay is excellent! When I got started my career as a screenwriter, I was arrogant and just didn't listen to anybody, so I fell on my butt. I hated the readers. How dare they reject my work?! After completing my award winning feature film Irish Whiskey (see Production Notes page in this web site), I finally decided I better find out why the hell my "great" scripts were being rejected by becoming a reader myself, learning how they read a script, what their expectations are, and more specifically, rules of the game. I am ready to share my experience and wisdom to help give you a fighting chance. I will help you get your script into a "reader friendly" shape so when you submit the script, if you follow my suggestions, you'll have a better shot at getting a "consider" or "consider with a rewrite" or the coveted "recommend" ratings, which will help you get an agent, or a sale. Also, if I love your script I will recommend it to a manager who trusts my taste and will read it based on my referral, key factor in getting an manager or agent to take the time to read your material. I don't work for free, but I'm not too expensive either.
